need help installing banshee at 1024*768 no virtual

i have run the XF86Setup program.. finally got my intellmouse 
working.  selected Banshee for video card chipset.  selected 
monitor capable of 1024*768 @ 70hz with the highest color depth.  
(i'm able to get high color at this rate under win98)  also selected 
SVGA.  (for some reason the program requires VGA16 to be 
installed)  anyway.. when the program is ended it tried to start X 
and i get a X11 Trans socket unit cannot connect err #111

i'm very frustrated.  i thought the banshee would be supported /w 
the redhat 6.0 disc.  i had installed 3 required RPMS for the 
banshee to work.  can anyone shed some light as to what i am 
doing wrong?  the page for the banshee installation on a glibc

btw, i found no references to "virtual" in my XF86Config file.
