Ok. I just couldn't figure out how you could have ncurses and not have
terminfo files installed. Lack of terminfo is why pico, emacs, et al.
are complaining. Now let's find out what happened to terminfo. If I
rpm -ql ncurses | less
I get the whole laundry list of terminfo files and other cats and dogs.
If you do too, then you may need to reinstall ncurses, perhaps with the
-U (upgrade) option because something has happened to them.
If your list does not include terminfo files, then some 6.0 veteran
needs to help us determine what rpm contains them, now.
