Re: Recompile Kernel?

First, you would have to get the kernel source code.
One way to go about recompiling would be to save the old kernel under a different file name. Once you have done that you can compile the kernel source code and use the new kernel. If the new kernel is not functional for any reason, you could can point to the old kernel from the bios setup. That way you donot lose you intial setup.

Hope that helps.

If this is not the correct place to ask these questions would someone please
tell me where to ask.

How do I recompile the RH6 kernel?

Will recompiling the kernel cause me to lose my current installation?

I'm trying to install a program that requires changes to some of the shared
memory settings. There's no other way around this. The settings can not be
changed without a recompile of the kernel.

Any help appreciated.
Thank you,
Doug
