startx

RH 6.0 on a P133
Everytime I try to launch startx, I get Authentication failed
x11TransSocketunix connect can't connect errno=111
xinit:connection refused (errno 111) unable to connect to X server
Xinit: no such process (erron3)server error

I'm not doing this at root. When I try this at root I can get in.
Whats the problem? Thanks for any help I get.
