Sounds to me like you will have to change the logical
number of cylinders heads and possibly cylinders to
match the physcial configuration of the drive.
What I would try is to Boot from rescue disk(s)
Using the advanced features of fdisk, you can rewrite
the partition table -- careful?
You do know the physical configuration (did you say
you use a dynamic disk overlay?).
If not, you will need to find this out. Otherwise,
you can try changing them by trial and error and then
printing the partition table to the screen to see if
you've got it right.
fdisk will not write the partition table to disk until
you ask it too.
Be careful (but then perhaps it's a bit late for that
advice).
If you have to do a full reinstall, I would print out
a copy of the working partition table for future
reference.
fdisk works fine, but for my partitioning I use the
commercial package Powerquest Partition Magic.
It's a life saver.
