This is a small, but hopefully important thought.  If I recall correctly,
the printer ports got a slight change in their numbering from 5.2 to 6.x
versions.  Take a look in your files to see if it is trying to use lp0 or
lp1 as the printer on the first parallel port.  The old way was lp1, 6.x has
it at lp0.  If its still being done the old way, you could try to edit the
file and restart lpd, or just remove the printer via print tool and
reinstall.  Hope this helps.
