Now unable to boot Linux

I guess I did a big mistake when I tried to configure my sound card (Turtle
Beach TBS-2000) on RH 6.0... I'm now completely unable to boot Linux: It
displays usual lines, up to many lines refering to the card, then "conflict"
message, then "FAILED", then it locks up to the line "loading sound module",
and it does not go further...

As I don't mind about the sound card under Linux, how could I get back to my
previous configuration, without having to scrap everything for the 175th
time, and reinstall my so-painfully-earned working setup I had since a month
?? (Seems there's nothing to do with the "boot-rescue disk, as I'm asked
for a "root something disk" which I've never heard of during initial
setup...

Hope I can fix it before I go to Corel Linux, or back to Win9x !! ;-)

Thanks,
