As some of you know (thank you those who have tried to help)
I have been trying to get to systems up in Linux. I have
had
to put the laptop on hold temporarily, but the main box
**has**
to be functional within the next two weeks. <sigh>Roommates
as
business partners. </sigh>
My question is this. Are there any know incompatibilites
between Linux and a Quantum Bigfoot multigig harddrive? I
have
just had the second in a row go bellyup on me. The bios
doesn't
even see it anymore. <fx=head scratched in confusion>
For the record.
In the eventual network server box, we started with one
drive
and then added the headache^H^H^H^H^H^H^H second drive.
The first drive was a Maxtor 8xx meg (I don't remember the
exact size for this one.)
The second drive was the Quantum Bigfoot 3.2gig drive.
When the first Quantum died I returned it and got a
duplicate of the drive as a replacement. As I have said,
now
this one has died.
Any ideas folks? All I can figure is that it is either an
incompat with Linux or the Maxtor that killed both drives.
That or the Quantum Bigfoots are undependable drives.
TIA
sjs
