The Maxtor is working just fine. We, at first, thought that
the Bigfoot (or Linux) had a problem with larger drive being
below the Maxtor in the cascade.

As I said in my previous post, the system bios no longer
sees
drive.
We tried:
Taking the Maxtor completely out of the cascade. No help
Switch the connectors from the controller card
in case it was a bad connection No help
With either cable used, the system sees the Maxtor and NOT
the Quantum. <sigh>
I was able to do the initial bios configure of the drive,
start the install and got as far as the previously discussed
install problem (yes I do now have the updated disks). From
that point on, the drive has not worked.
Anything more than this regarding the hardware end will have
to wait until I get home and can ask the house hardware
techie <G>.
