1. Reboot your PC.
2. At the LILO prompt type: linux single
3. Press return.
4. When you get to the shell prompt, follow this:

bash# passwd
New UNIX password: [type your new password]
Retype new UNIX password: [retype your new password]
passwd: all authentication tokens updated succesfully.
bash# reboot

Try loging again. Hope this helps.
