(update) Re: Installing RH6.1 problems...

Hi...

I wrote about 2 weeks ago saying that I couldn't access either the
distribution downloaded created CD, or the .iso created CD. I have 2
systems running RH5.2 . One at work (Pentium 100, 1996 BIOS, 1.0G & 1.2G
hard drives, 64M ram, Mach64/Gateway2000 monitor). One at home (AMD
K6/166, 1998 BIOS, 4.2G hard drive, 48M ram, Matrox something/MGC
monitor). I had tested the distribution CD on both machines, and had
received the "cannot access file /modules/module-info", or something darn
similar with that file, and the .iso CD was only tested at work, and it
wasn't recognized at all. Can't even mount the .iso CD under RH5.2 . I
finally took that one home last week, and the .iso CD worked. I was
amazed, and also bewildered. I can only assume that the CD drive at work
is too old, or something, and doesn't read CD-Rs, though it can read the
distribution CD fine. One thing that I also found different, is when I
mount the CD at home, 'mount' finished by saying it is a Microsoft Joliet
version something or other. The 'mount' at work doesn't. Is there an RPM I
could have updated on my home system that gave me a new mount command?
Seems strange, but plausible.

I want to thank the folks that posted responses. I'd thank you personally,
but I downloaded that mail to my machine at home, and am writing this on
my ISP account.

I am still running RH5.2 on both machines, because I'd rather have both
home and work running the same version, rather than worry about version
differences between the two. Though, most of the RPMs I see being built
are for RH6.1, though I can be brave and compile stuff myself. :)

Thanks again,
