Partial screen pan in Gnome/Enlightenment

Ok, I'm biting the bullet to see if I can beat Gnome/Enlightenment into
submission and work the way I want to work. I go back to fvwm, fvwm2,
and, of late, AfterStep. I like multi-screen-size desktops, but I also
want to be able to pan from one screenful to another partially, say,
20-25% just by holding my cursor against one of the screen edges for,
say half a second. Best I can figure out how to do with E is a full
screen pan. I am currently using the stock 2x2 screens on a single
desktop.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
