All of you have been of great help. Thank you very much.
I just need to confirm one thing. I need to know if the following suggestion
is going to work with a dynamic IP address. (My Cable Modem company is
providing me with a dynamic IP address.)

Cable ------ Linux ------ Hub

Well, you get the idea.
To do this you need two ethernet cards in the Linux box.
One on the "outside" network, and one on a different
"inside" network. Check out the firewalling and IP
masquerading HOWTOs for full details.
