Re: 6.1 Workstation installation. Destructive?

Workstation install is not clean either. I am yet to resolve how to get to Win98
after a workstation install. See my parallel thread on "LILO won't boot other OS
(Win98)"

Subject: 6.1 Workstation installation. Destructive?

Hey folks.

I want to reinstall 6.1 on a system that currently was setup (clumsily)
using the custom install and trying for a server setup.

Anyway, I want to use this machine as a workstation now. Its a Win98/Linux
dual boot system, Linux has its own hard drive (hdb). I've done a lot of
hardware shuffling and other stuff and while a Linux guru could probably fix
things, for me its easier to just reinstall and get a clean start, I think.

I was thinking of using the 6.1 "Workstation" installation, rather than a
custom installation, on the assumption that whomever made the installer
knows better than I what should and should not be included on a Workstation.

What I need to know is, will this damage the Win98 installation? I recall
that the Server Install, I think, takes over the whole machine and blows
away any other OS. Does the Workstation do this as well? That'd be very
bad... ::grin::

TIA for any help.

PS I've been lurking on this list for a while as I dart in and out of Linux.
I'm continually impressed and amazed by the help offered from your experts
out there. I've seen several individuals answer the same questions over and
over with good-natured patience. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you
for doing such a grand job!
