Greetings folks...
I run my Linux Mandrake machine to boot into the GUI throught the /etc/inittab
file as stated here...
# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 1 - Single user mode
# 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
# 3 - Full multiuser mode
# 4 - unused
# 5 - X11
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#
id:5:initdefault:
.. which is no big deal as it boots to the GUI login screen, etc.
What I've always wanted to know iiiiissssssss....
Q: How can I boot the machine into the GUI and at the same time
of the boot to the GUI, start Xscreensaver in the background?
I'd like for the screen to be *active* while the machine is unused
(nobody logged in at the console) waiting for someone to sit down and
login (me ... eventually). I think it'd be much better visually
doing this instead of the having a *blank* screen prior to someone
touching the keyboard or mouse activating the screen back to life.
I figger this is way *kewler* than the traditional WinNT machine around
work with a blank screen waiting for user input. I'm willing to do about
anything to show *kewlness* on the part of Linux around here... heh, heh,
heh....
