Well, I got back in to Gnome and figured out what to do. Right or
wrong, this worked.
Brought up an xterm and executed "enlightenment &"; exited the xterm and
saved my desktop. Logged out and back in and Enlightenment is alive and
well. Still missing my pager, so brought up Start->Panel->Add applet,
and found a pager and installed it. Fooled around a bit more and had
some fun configuring stuff. Hey, I just might like Gnome after all.
Now if I can figure out how to page partially from one pane to another,
and make the pop-up menus, particularly the cascaded menus, be
persistent, that is to stay put even if I move the mouse off the parent
menu item. In AfterStep, I just click on the parent and the child menu
stays put.
