Red Hat 6.1 will install just fine on the SD11, I just did it myself.
However (always has to be one, right?) it is not optimized for this
system. The 2.2.12-20 kernel supplied works, but has no Athlon
optimizations. Also there is no support for the ATA66 controller, but it
works ok as an ATA/33. I can't get any of the 2.3.x kernels with Athlon
support to compile, but you can get a pristine 2.2.13 kernel and patch
it with the ide patch found at:
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/kernel/people/hedrick/ide.2.2.13.19991213.patch.gz
Once you apply this patch, you can increase the throughput of the ide
controller a bit, but not all the way to ATA/66 speeds. I get about 22
meg/sec.
We have to hope that Athlon Support comes in 2.2.14 Until then I compile
for i686.
