Re: Boot Floppy

Someone asked about making a backup copy of a boot floppy after the
Linux has been installed.

It is first necessary to know the Linux kernel version number, so do:

       cat /proc/version

The number is at the beginning of the resulting text ( mine is
2.2.9-19)

Next, perform this operation:

mkbootdisk 2.2.9-19 (subtitute the number you found in the
previous step, letters included, if any)

I do it as root operator. I haven't tried it any other way.

If you have more than one Linux installed, make a separate boot disk for
each one. For, example, I have two
hard drives with the same version of Linux (customized differently) on
each. I made a boot disk from each
Linux installation
.
