Ifconfig Status

I have one ethernet card in my system, which has a new clean install of RH
5.2 on it.

Everything seems fine with the network stuff. I can reach anywhere on the
local lan and the internet.

I have under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts four more ifcfg-eth0
(ifcfg-eth31, ifcfg-eth32, etc) which are for other web sites I host.

When I do an ifconfig it shows the main eth0 as being in promisc mode. I
believe this to be unusual as on the old RH 3.0.3 system it was not in that
mode.

I also have a RH 5.1 machine with the same setup of having other eht0's on
the network card and it doesn't show as being in promisc mode.

Is this something I should be worried about or what? I remember along time
ago that and interface in promisc mode usually meaned you were hacked,
which I can't believe as I have only hooked it to the net at 11pm and it
was installed from an official RH 5.2 cd.

Now the big question ..... is arpwatch causing it to be in promisc mode as
it watches the interfaces??
