Well, that's an odd one. Do you really want your machine to look for hosts
in the "ns3.netpacq.net" domain?

The search line indicates what subdomains it searches. 

If you typed in "telnet fred", it would try to do a lookup of
"fred.ns3.netpacq.net".

Generally, I set the search line to (for machine infinity.cc.umr.edu for
example):

domain cc.umr.edu
search cc.umr.edu umr.edu

If I have other local domains that are heavily used, I add them:

domain cc.umr.edu
search cc.umr.edu maem.umr.edu physics.umr.edu cs.umr.edu umr.edu
