Ok, I just installed my very first Linux last night.
Some questions when I run xf86config, then startx, I get a nice 1024 x 768 screen but no mouse, and when I run Xconfigurator, then startx, I get a 640 x 480 screen, ctrl-alt-+ does nothing, and all the windows and icons are way too big for the screen. Using xf86config, it asks for mouse info, and says to hit return for the default /dev/mouse. I have a dual boot DOS/Linux, and, in DOS terms, the mouse is on COM2. What should I enter for Linux mouse info? Any ideas how to get the video to 1024 x 768 and the mouse to work at the same time? I did have a Unix shell account a while back, however, I've forgotten most everything. What text editors are available in Red Hat 5.2? How about file managers? |
