Just went through this upgrading a client's computer from DOS to
Win98.  You can disable PnP on the USR by changing the jumpers to
force it to, say, com2.  Then, it'll work in DOS, and presumably, in
Linux too.

With PnP, there is no com2..., changing the jumpers forces it to the
old, non-PnP way.
