XF86Config

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting X to work on a new install. It's a DEC 486
with an S3_86C764-P chip on the motherboard. As the system boots I see 1
Meg of memory for video.

After my install I typed startx and got a full screen grey cross-hatch
pattern. Don't know if that was a normal "wallpaper" like background or
not. I had an "X" for a mouse cursor but it wanted to stay at the
top-right corner of the screen.

I looked at the xfree86 website and followed their instructions on
running XF86Config. Now when I type startx I get:

	newmmio, mmio_928, s3_generic
(using VT number 7)

Config Error: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config:207

	Protocol	"SCO"
			^^^^^

Mouse type not supported by this OS

Fatal server error:

giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 3): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

Guess I did something wrong at the Protocol line. Thought it told me to
use SCO if my mouse is supported by the OS. Also it said to remove the
next device line.

Can someone please help and tell me what I did wrong?

TIA,

Mike Starnes
