Please..Help! POP3

Good Afternoon,

I have been having a little trouble with the pop3 services on a RH 5.2 server.
Having two identical servers up and running, one server gives the following
error when trying to retrieve mail via pop:
'being read already' followed by the mail directory. Sendmail works on this
machine but not the pop3 service.
I am using no config. file on either machine. One machines pop services
work, the other doesn't.

Anybody have a suggestion as to what the problem might be?
