IRQ in conf.modules

I am running RH5.2 and have an adaptec scsi 1520. After a successful
install I have changed the scsi card irq from 11 to 12 and modified that

value in the /etc/conf.modules file but at boot time the system still
thinks that it should be 11 and generates an error for that. Is the irq
hardcoded any where else. Are there anything that I should modify for
the change to take effect?
