RedHat 5.2 and ATI VGA Wonder Busmouse

I hope someone can help me with this, I've been pulling my hair out trying
to
get this to work (which is saving me money on haircuts).

I have an old 486 machine that I've installed Linux on with no problems.
I'm
now trying to get XWindows configured, and I am having problems with my
ATI
Busmouse.

I've gone through the mouseconfig, xf86config, and Xconfigurator without
success. Basically what happens is I startx, the screen comes up no
problem
(I'm not having any problems with the video card itself), but I can't move
the mouse pointer at all. I did a cat /proc/interrupts, and tried playing
around with the IRQ settings from DOS.	I now have the mouse IRQ on the
card
set to IRQ 5, /proc/interrupts isn't showing any conflicts. I've also
tried
using different mouse configuration in mouseconfig to no avail. And I've
also recompiled the kernel, and only selected the busmouse option in make
config. One thing I've noticed is when I boot up the machine, it detects
the
ATI Busmouse, but it also detects a Microsoft InPort mouse. I can't
figure
out where it's getting that from, and I'm thinking that may be the
problem.

I found some additional information on the web in regards to gpm, but if
anyone can help I'd appreciate it. If you need any output from my
machine,
just let me know.

Thanks ahead of time...
