I'm trying to do a clean install of RH5.2 on a new hard disk. The disk is
13GB with 16383 cyl, 16 heads and 63 sectors.
I can boot an existing rh5.2 on another drive, and it sees this new disk
during boot up (excerpt from dmesg):
ide: i82371 PIIX (Triton) on PCI bus 0 function 57
ide0: BM-DMA at 0xecf0-0xecf7
ide1: BM-DMA at 0xecf8-0xecff
hda: WDC AC31600H, 1549MB w/128kB Cache, CHS=787/64/63, DMA
->hdb: Maxtor 91303D6, 12427MB w/512kB Cache, CHS=1023/0/63, DMA
hdc: ST36450A, 6149MB w/448kB Cache, CHS=13328/15/63
hdd: CDA66801I, ATAPI CDROM drive
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
The redhat installer falls over every time I exit the disk druid or the
fdisk. I've tried using fdisk, and not changing anything. No luck.
If I boot the system from the other disk in rh5.2, I can run fdisk on the
device, partition it and even make ext2 filesystems on it, which can be
mounted and used.
The installer won't let me get past this point.
I used the installer on the other disk (hdc) last week with no problems.
HELP please!
thanks,
-chuck
