Help please,
I'm getting a cable modem connection soon and I've installed a 3com
3c905b-tx PCI nic. Even though I don't have the connection yet, I'm
experimenting with activating the card. When I try to fire up the dhcp
job I don't get errors, the computer locks completely. I have to do a
hard reset to recover the pc. I'm sure but not positive that the
problem is registering the card, not the dhcp routine itself. I need
some help figuring this out:
PC: Dell 266 with 64mb ram
NIC: (PCI) 3com FastEtherlink XL 10/100 TX Ethernet NIC (3c905b-tx)
IRQ: 9 MEM: 04000000-0400007F I/O: 1000-107F (Conf Info from Win98)
OS: RH 5.0 with 2.0.36-0.7 kernel
Linux reports: 3c905b Cyclone 100 base TX
at 0xfc00, ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff, IRQ9
(I know this is wrong, there is no MAC Address)
This is a dual-boot system and Windows reported no errors when the card
was installed.
