RE:Sound Blaster CD-Rom Parameters

Greetings Sean:
I struggled with the CD-ROM problem for months trying to have access for
an installation from the CD. No luck and finally followed the Hard Drive
procedure of loading the CD contents onto a DOS partion under DOS. Linux
installation worked find, but no accss to the CD. The SB card was
attached to the CD, Sanyo H94A, that came with the SB card several years
back. Even though RH list indicates that the kernel supports the CD, I
never mastered the parameters. I would still like to find the solution
to the parameters.
But to remedy the problem I removed the SB card and CD, installed a
NewComm 36Xmax. Turned on the machine with the linux install disk and
there was my new CD with no need for any parameters. I did not do a new
installation and merely accessed the drive. There is no SB card in the
linux box.
The computer is a Leading Edge 486DX2/66, two Seagate IDE drives(2.1g
and 0.5g), USRobotics internal 28.8 modem(old), and 32mb RAM. I am using
this machine to try to gain a firm knowledge of linux.
Hope you find the solution.
Jack..
