With the help of RPMs from www.troutman.org/linux, I've finally got Diald
for RH5.2 up and running.
However, now when I boot Linux up, I find that when Sendmail is
initialising (I decided to install such things when I installed the OS),
Diald is dialing the internet. I assume this is because Sendmail would
like a connection to the internet for checking mail. It's probably
configured with a dedicated line as an assumption. The problem is I DON'T
HAVE a dedicated line.
How do I go about reconfiguring Sendmail so that it doesn't look for an
internet connection straight off? I need a mail program that will only
want to dial up when I want to send "outbasket" msgs. If this is not
possible, I will probably need to uninstall Sendmail and use something else.
If it wasn't for an RPM available for what I needed, I don't think I'd have
got Diald working for quite a while! Special Thanks for Paul Leon for
posting that "Step by step guide". It really helped me!
Anyone else who's struggling with Diald, and has RH5.2 needs to visit that
site!
