Working around the 1024 cyl limit

Hiyas,

I was told that (Redhat) Linux has probs if it is installed in an area
beyond cylinder 1024 of the harddrive?

If this is correct, I was questioning if I could allocate the first
partition on my HD for Linux, and give the other partition to Windows 98...
Although the problem I foresee is that Windows won't allow me to direct it
to a certain partition... Anyone have any ideas?
