I was having some problems with my Samba Server.
It was working and in the process of experimenting
it decided to quite. So I decided to reinstall
it. Well, after going through a RH6.0 upgrade of
Samba from my original installation CD, I receive
some error messages when I boot. They go as
follows,
/dev/hda5 contains a file system with errors,
check forced.
/dev/hda5 Directory inode 14527, block 0, offset
0: directory corrupted
/dev/hda5 UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck
MANUALLY.
(i.e. without -a or -p option)
***An error occrred during the file system check.
***Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
***when you leave the shell.
Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D for normal startup):
Well I tried the Control-D for a normal startup
and it just reboots and comes back to the same
problem. That didn't do it so I typed the root
password and typed the following and the command
prompt------->fsck
I then rebooted. Same thing!! Oops! Is there
anyway to fix my problems? This is interesting
and I'd like some System Administrator advice.
I've really screwed it up but would like to hear
your input and possibly avoid a complete
reinstall. Also, what could I have done to
reinstall Samba and avoided this all together?
Thanks in advance,
ARt Ross
