My response was in good spirits, nothing personal. But since we
are on the subject, in the event the "software" isn't responding
it's always been a rule of thumb to work your way down to the
_physical layer_ and see if there is a problem there.
So many times I'll think it _couldn't_ be a piece of
hardware/cable/etc and it turns out to be something minor.
I have two Epson Stylus printers now. Wonder why? Well about 4
months ago I was in the middle of a perfect print job (from my
Linux box) and it stopped, just spit out binary so I rebooted to
my win95 partition thinking it was my ghostscript gone haywire,
same stuff.
Having had this printer in the shop before, and it being a few
years old I just unplugged it, went to Office Max for the new
Epson which was on sale. Getting home I plugged all the stuff in,
opened all the packages, and when I set it all up, the same thing
on both platforms, Linux and win95...............
I then went to my printer switch box, moved the switch a few
times from A to B, and all was well.
CARBON BUILT UP ON THE SWITCHBOX.... now my fiancee has a free
printer.
