In the 2.2.x kernels, at least in 2.2.5, the nfs driver is
considered experimental, although I have not had any
problems with it.
In the kernel config at the top in "Code maturity level options",
check yes for "Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers"
Then in "Filesystems"/"Network File Systems", check yes for
"NFS server support" and optionally "Emulate SUN NFS server"
