Apache info

Hi all
I have published a web page to my Linux 5.2 system from a remote win98  box
and have noticed that the images I had on the web page are not visible
(white boxes)
these images are .jpg files.
Will the apache server view these files or do I have to make them gif files.

I have read the config files and they don't mention jpg's
