THat is probably the solution, but just the usual warnings that we dont
ship pppd with setuid due to potential security problems (I am not sure
the Linux Security Audit Team has looked at pppd yet)
The way that netcfg and usernet get around this is setting a "flag" in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0
DEVICE="ppp0"
ONBOOT=yes
USERCTL=no
change USERCTL to
USERCTL=yes
and usernet can bring up and down the link. I dont think Preston
(resident KDE fellow) had time to work any wrapper logic into kppp for
users to use this method.
