Hi all-
I have a copy of RedHat 6 on cd which faults out when doing a local cd
installation. The Dell Inspiron has a 8 gig drive which now has a swap file
and a root linux native partition. The installation begins quite well and
lets me remove the root partition or recreate it with either disk druid or
fdisk. I can install packages from the cd without a problem. But when I
get to the point of adding a root password; everything just stops and the
installer accepts no additional keyboard input. The laptop just freezes up
completely and I have to cycle the power. If I reboot, I only get a "LI".
Fdisk notes that the drive is over a default size and that I may have
problems with it; however, I can install SuSE 6 on it any time I want
without any problems. I have also installed REdHat 5.2 on it without
problems in the past. The Dell Inspiron has a PII 366mhz processor, 128mb
of memory, 8 gig hard disk drive, and a 24/32 speed internal atapi cd rom.
Any help appreciated.
