Well I was far too quick to thank you, but thank you for the attempt.

I already had my pty's set up properly though I did not have the GID
entry...

I made the change and rebooted, no luck...

Strangely if I go back to the 0.10-8 version of the telnet rpm's everything
is fine.

however my system then responds with "BSD telnet" at login...
