You can adjust the level, but NT wants to be the domain master.

If you have Samba set up as the domain master for the same domain as NT, it
"dies" thanks to NT even if you set the OS level higher than NT...

Samba does not become the backup as well.

Actually I should have said "domain master" not browse master.

However the gist is still correct, in a mixed environment, use the NT box
because it is LESS co-operative than Samba... better yet, get rid of NT.
