samba

All,

I have been having a bit of trouble setting up samba on my linux box, err
rather configuring it.   I am trying to mount linux to NT and NT to linux
I only need disk devices for now printers can come later.  Can anyone
explain to a hardcore anti-bill guy how to get it to work?  I have
compiled the kernel to support smbfs and I need this to fullfill a
project I am working on.  The terminology of the HOWTO's and the man pages
escapes me.  I guess the problem is I flat don't understand how to setup
the SMB protocol.  Could someone out there put in plain english what to do
and ofer some definitions to what is what?
