Subject: CD-ROM Driver
I have just purchased Red Hat Linux 5.2 and started installing it on the
machine
Dell Optiplex GX1MT
Processor: Intel Pentium 400 MHz
Memory 128 MB RAM
Two 4GB HDD Ultra SCSI-2 LCD with 2940UW SCSI Controller
Network: 3Com 10/100
CD ROM Drive: 17/40X ATAPI
I came to the part where the installation asked me if I would install from a
'Local
CD ROM'. I pressed 'Enter' hoping that it would automatically probe my
CD-ROM
drive. Unfortunately, it did not. Instead, it gave me another window
prompting me
to choose 'SCSI' and 'Other CD-ROM' I chose 'Other CD-ROM', and tried
each of
the
drivers listed (such as Aztec, Mitsumi) but none of them work. Instead I
keep
on
getting the error message:
I can't find the device anywhere on your system!
What wrong with my system? Please help. My CD-ROM is an NEC CD-ROM Model
CDR-3000A.
Awaiting someone's kind help
Joel
