I have a small network at home in which the Linux box stands as a
connection to the internet through a cable modem. I have win98/win95
machines also connected through a hub to Linux server. The Linux server
has 2 network cards installed. I am just beginning to try some of the
networking features of Linux, but I don't understand how to configure
these two networks.
My eth0 is connected to the cable modem and eth1 is connected to the hub
for my internal network. I am not sure how to setup my /etc/hosts and
resolv.conf so that these two networks can coexist. All I want to do
right now is be able to telnet linux from my windows machines and access
the internet from linux at the same time. Eventually I will attempt to
run ipmasquerading or a proxy server.
I have been able to setup my internal lan and I have been able to setup
the linux connection to my cable modem, but when I have both configured,
I get conflicts. How should I include the DNS servers for my cable modem
and my linux box as a DNS server to the win98/95 machines in the same
resolv.conf??
Can anyone point me to some good documentation or let
me know how they have configured linux with two network cards.
Thanks,
Troy
