Apache problem

I finaly got my RedHat 5.2 installed and kinda working.  Im trying to get my
apache working.  Its setup and running but I want to be able to see a users
directory if there is no index.html or index.htm in the directory.  Ive been
reading the manual by adding the fancyindexing on and making sure the modual
is loaded which they are.  I cant see anything else that could be wrong.
Can someone help?
