Have you tried this HOWTO?
http://hyper.stanford.edu/~dhinds/pcmcia/ftp/doc/PCMCIA-HOWTO.html
I haven't had time yet, but will later today.

Subject: pcmcia problem
I tried to install redhat linux 6.0 to my notebook (workstation) but
after installation was finished and during reboot it stoped at "starting
pcmcia" .....and froooozzze there.
There was no card inside during startup.
I was talking to someone in linux IRC channel and he told me to try
this:at lilo :linux single , and then , rpm -ev --nodeps kernel-pcmcia-cs
it worked but i think my pcmcia doesn't work.
Anyone knows what happens.
PS:my pcmcia chip = Texas instrument PCI-1131
ps: the official support site for registered users didn't even bother to
reply to my question.
