Hello! I just bought an el cheapo box with a Davicom DM9102 ethernet
chipset built in.

I even installed rh6 without any real difficulties
I even got the (onboard agp) video driver to work fine with a little
xconfig tuning...

And everything was seeming to good to be true...rightfully so...

When I tried to install the ethernet card, I:

1) Downloaded the LinuxOS2.zip from http://www.davicom8.com/lan/dm9102.htm
(which contains teh drivers) to my Macintosh
2) Extracted it
3) Copied the linux folder of that zip file to an msdos formated floppy
4) Mounted the msdos floppy
5) read the readme
6) copied the .c source file and the .o object file locally to /home/user
7) typed in the command "gcc -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__
-I/usr/src/linux/net/inet -Wall-Wstrict-prototypes -O6 -c dmfe.c", as
listed in the readme..

And What I Got was:

dmfe.c:1: warning: preprocessing directive not recognized within macro arg
dmfe.c:1: warning: preprocessing directive not recognized within macro arg
dmfe.c:1: warning: preprocessing directive not recognized within macro arg
dmfe.c:1: warning: preprocessing directive not recognized within macro arg
dmfe.c:1: '#include' expects "FILENAME" or <FILENAME>

there were about 20 instances of that first line, just i didnt include them
all to save space in mailboxes...

I have no experience with gcc, so i don't know what to do...

and the company that sold me the box had this to say:

"Unfortunately we do not support Linux.  I can say with confidence however
that we have many customers using Linux successfully with the Davicom
network card.  Your best bet is to use Red Hat newsgroups as a source for
how to properly install the driver."

So it should work. Please, anyone that has experience with Davicom, HELP!

In the end, The box will be an:
a) netatalk appleshareIP server
b) DSL router
 ...so I REALLY need this to work.....
