eth0, netatalk, netconf

Hello,
I have written to all of you in search of help for an answer to my question
which may seem so simple its not even funny.

you see, I have just successfully installed my first rh6 box. I am happy. I
have just successfully insmod-ed the ethernet card into the kernel. I have
successfully gotten an onboard agp card to work. I am proud, but now I am
in over my head...

The system is an El cheapo box with a 16.8 GB HD which will be used as a
netatalk fileserver over an Appletalk (not TCP/IP!) network. the mac
machines all have the tcp/ip control panel set to ppp. so... i'll be using
appleshare classic.

I have installed netatalk without a problem. not a single error, thanx to
http://lindy.stanford.edu/~ssklar/netatalk-setup.html

But it wouldnt popup in the chooser, so I startx and run netconf, to see
what is up with the settings....woops. Forgot to set everything. So i set
127.0.0.1 (this machine is ONLY on an appletalk network), and eth0, (which
the compile told me). I also set the netmask to 255.255.255.0 ... and i
figured it should work. I rebooted, and I see 2 [FAILED] lines in the boot.
They both involved eth0 (cant recall exact words) This wasnt there before I
tried to work netconf, So im guessing this error comes from netconf.
netatalk seems to be running, just the network isnt there.

This maybe the lamest question in the world, but please, HELP! I want to
get this file server up and running!

How do I configure netconf in redhat 6.0 (hedwig)?

/johan ugander

ps. Thanks for any/all help!!
