I'd try a newer pcmcia package (at least get the new
kernel updates for RH6.0).
Boot into single user mode, then disable pcmcia in all
run-levels (using linuxconf).
Then try to start pcmcia and watch for errors.
(use '/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start')
You may need to setup the pcmcia config file. See the
HOWTO for this. If this is ISA based, you may need
isapnp too.
