chmod 1777 /var/lock

in /usr/bin/fax i changed the fax type to 2.0 from 2
also I changed the /dev/modem file like this
rm /dev/modem
mknod /dev/modem c 5 66
chmod 666 /dev/modem
I don't know which or if any of this actually 'did' the trick but I can fax from
lyx now.
Now if I can just figure out how to get sendmail to put mail in my pine INBOX.
in a pine box?
thanks;bill
