ISA NE2000 Force recognition

Hi, just switched over from Debian to Redhat 6.0. Everything's fine except for
the network card recognition. I had some trouble under Debian too but got it
to work by forcing the recognition. But it's not working under Redhat 6. I'm
not sure if it's my syntax (as it's been a while), or something else.
I'm running it on a K6 400 with glibc2. Here's a few different ways I tried
the append command.
append=ether=5,0x220,0,0,eth0
append ether=5,0x220,0,0,eth0
append"ether=5,0x220,0,0,eth0
None of them got me a line in dmesg about probing the ISA NE*000 card, which
I heard is itself significant. Does anyone know what the problem is or how to
fix it? Thanks in advance.
Ming Hsu
