The staroffice readme claims that certain versions of the JDK have bugs
that prevent it from working. It seems the installer is picky about
which versions it will accept. I had a similar problem getting the
installer to see my jdk until I installed another version. I believe it
was a native threads vs. green threads issue. I don't remember which was
the right one because I have both installed now.
Anyway, read the readme carefully and see if you have the jdk version that
staroffice wants.
